The Owerri Dioceses is buzzing with excitement as preparations are underway for the ordination of 9 new priests.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, 3rd August, 2024, will be presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri Dioceses, His Grace Most Rev Lucious Iwejuru.
High-powered delegations from across Nigeria and diaspora, to be led by Chief Sir Leonard Ifeanyi Chukwu Micheal Njoku and his wife, Lolo Lady Lyndakate Ifeoma Njoku, are expected to grace the grand ordination ceremony.
The couple who are in-laws and sister related to one of the ordaining priests, Rev. Sixtus Chukwuebuka Okoro whose ordination, reportedly has added to the respect of the family and increased the families pride as an entrenched Catholic family.
The highly anticipated ordination ceremony will take place at the Maria Assumpta Cathedral in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, in a special solemn celebration Holy Mass. The nine priests to be ordained have served as Deacons and have qualified to be ordained priests.
The newly elevated priests include: Rev. Sixtus Chukwuebuka Okoro, Rev. Peter Divine Ikechukwu Akujobi, Rev. Samuel Uchenna Chieke, Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Nwachukwu, Rev. Martin Kelechi Nwoye, Rev. Isidore Chukwuemeka Obisike, Rev. thankGod Kelechi Ofurum, Rev. Marcus Onumaku, and Rev. Chukwuemeka Udeji.
Earlier, on July 4, 2024, the Archbishop of Owerri announced the ordination of the qualified Nine Deacons elevated to priesthood in accordance with the process guiding elevations and ordination of Catholic priests worldwide.
Rev. Sixtus Chukwuebuka Okoro, one of the ordination beneficiaries, in his preparation for the event, expressed his happiness and gratitude to God for achieving his lifetime aspiration to serve in the house of the Lord.
Family, friends and well wishers will on Saturday, August 3,2024, at 10am The Catholic community of Owerri dioceses are expected to come together to honor the ordination of Rev. Sixtus Okoro and others as priests, for life, legacy, and dedication to God and his faith.
The ordination evokes joy with an atmosphere filled with glamorous faces, felicitations, music, praise, and thanksgiving. As the event marks another special moment for the family, the congregation and admirers who will come together to show appreciation for his spiritual guidance.
