Esteemed Igbo Elders and Leaders,
With profound reverence for our shared heritage, history, and collective aspirations for a united and prosperous Nigeria, I address you today with a heart laden with concern and a plea for unity in pursuit of justice and compassion.
In recent times, our dear brother, son and compatriot, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has found himself in the grips of detention by the Nigerian state and the Department of State Services (DSS).
His plight resonates deeply within our community, stirring emotions of solidarity, empathy, and a fervent desire for his freedom.
I humbly and respectfully implore each and every one of you, esteemed elders and leaders of the Igbo nation, to join hands in a chorus of solidarity, calling upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to heed the cries of justice and release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from his current confinement.
In this critical moment, let us rise above political divides and personal interests, standing together as a beacon of unity and compassion.
*Furthermore, it is with great significance and hope that I convey the assurance of support from our Yoruba brothers and sisters, particularly the revered elders of Afenifere*.
Together, in a spirit of fraternity and solidarity, we shall unite our voices in urging President Tinubu to embrace the path of reconciliation and mercy by granting Mazi Nnamdi Kanu his freedom.
In our pursuit of justice and reconciliation, I must also extend a sincere plea for forgiveness to anyone within our beloved Igbo community who may have felt hurt or offended by the actions or words of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. In this moment of collective reflection, let us reaffirm our commitment to healing wounds and fostering unity among all our people.
With humility and determination, I urge us to embark on this noble endeavor, mindful of the legacy we carry as custodians of our heritage and the architects of our collective destiny.
May our voices resonate with clarity and conviction, echoing the timeless principles of justice, compassion, and unity that define our noble heritage.
In closing, I urge you, esteemed elders and leaders, to heed this call to action and stand as beacons of hope and unity in our beloved Igbo land.
Together, let us strive for a future where justice, compassion, and unity reign supreme, where the bonds of brotherhood transcend all barriers, and where the light of freedom shines brightly for all.
Yours faithfully,
Madu Bright O. Alwell
