The social realities and economic conditions of the Nigerian state call for a moment of deep thinking and sober reflection for an average and every right-thinking Nigerian.
In my conclusion, I resolved that this is the best time for every Nigerian to be kind and reasonable in our actions, reactions, and dispositions toward one another.
The truth of the matter is that both the Rich, the Average, and the Poor are all affected by the socioeconomic pandemonium that is ravaging both personal and organizational well-being in the country. So, I advise as follows:
1. This is a time to understand that everybody is affected by the economic realities in Nigeria. So don’t put unnecessary pressure on anyone for help. You can ask for help but don’t mount pressure on anyone.
2. Employers should be kind to their employees and be sensitive to their economic situations in a time like this. If not, you may be adding salt to their injuries. If possible, consider an increase in their salaries.
3. Family members and relatives should learn to support the breadwinners in their homes. It is not easy to provide basic human needs in today’s Nigerian economy. All family members should contribute their quota.
4. This is not the time to pursue outrageous goals and ambitions. It is wise to review your aspirations to reflect the socioeconomic realities. If not, you might end up hurting yourself or making life difficult for people you are responsible for.
5. If you are a well-to-do person, please be sensitive to the needs and cries of the poor people around you. If your situation is better than theirs, try and help them in whatever little way you can.
6. As a Nigerian, especially if you are a salary earner, you need to think of alternative sources of income to augment the meager salary. Having multiple streams of income would increase your financial resources and enhance your purchasing power.
7. As a boss, be kind to your subordinates and be sensitive to their situations. This is not the best time to maltreat or frustrate people that are working under you. If you can’t help them, don’t hurt them.
8. For our religious leaders, especially the G.O. and Founders of churches, please be sensitive to the needs of your congregants. This is not the time to force them to give what they don’t have. This is the time for Church to give palliative to members.
9. For those visiting people without prior notice, this is not the time to visit people’s homes uninvited. Some families are just managing what they have. Don’t add to their burden if you are not invited.
10. If you ask people for help and they cannot assist you, please don’t be offended. The reason why you need their help may be the reason why they cannot help – lack. So be wise and reasonable in your request.
*Note:*
This is a time to take things easy with yourself and others. Manage what you have and be mindful in your relationship with others.
*Worth Thinking About:*
Remember, tough times never last but tough people do. One thing I am bold to tell you is that – “This Too Shall Pass.”
I Wish You A Great Day!
