If you are wondering whether legislators are part of the government, wonder no more. They are not. Nigeria just copied their presidential system of government from Google so you have these organs that are basically nonfunctional.
I can think of at least a suite of 20 legislations that can shock kidnappers into compliance with Civic order.
At least put the laws in the books.
Do they even know that if the code is silent on a particular kind of crime, then it is not a crime until it is written down as such.
In short, ike gwulu.
There is this sense that only the executive branch kwesili ichi. Not so. It is a system. Blaming just the Governor for governmental failures shows a lack of understanding of how things are supposed to work.
Our legislators should be propounding relevant laws and rules.
The Judiciary can and should be proposing laws to the Speaker for the House to look into it.
The Executive can propose laws to the legislators.
Organization, groups, individuals can propose laws for legislative review.
The legislators can canvass for proposed laws until it permeates into the society.
Rule making is a process. It should be argued in the house. Other branches of government should be solicited for their comments. The public should be solicited to comment on proposed rules or bills.
The speaker can conference with ndi Igwe and other Civic groups for comments on proposed rules.
Without a vibrant legislature, this government cannot work the way it is supposed to.
So let it be clear that Soludo is not to blame for every lapse in government. He is not the only one elected to chia, why is he the only one being blamed?
The legislature and the Judiciary in Anambra State are basically comatose. Why kwanu?
We really should return to parliamentary democracy. That is our traditional way of governance.
This otu onye mentality is just not working.
Mr Speaker, biko assign yourself a fair portion of the blame for why ritualists and kidnappers have taken over Anambra State.
