In a bid to maintain a hygienic and healthy living, the Anambra State Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has kicked off plans to establish clubs in secondary schools and tertiary institutions in the state.
Recall that Mrs Soludo has been a healthy living and hygiene ambassador for more than seventeen years, promoting physical fitness, organic food consumption, hygiene and the environment.
The governor’s wife who stated this in Awka, explained that the essence of having the clubs in schools is to drive her healthy living campaign down to a level where teenagers will be able to assimilate the principles of living right and keeping tabs on the world around them.
She said that the healthy living club will also bring back the era of school clubs, and help promote the right values among students and also help them become healthy living ambassadors upon graduation.
The First lady disclosed that areas of focus for the clubs will include representing what they eat, anti-smoking, anti-drugs, abuse of medicine, personal hygiene, clean and healthy environment, physical fitness, among others.
The governor’s wife further revealed that the students would be trained on the etiquettes of love and compassion, pointing out that her target is to have an army of student campaigners who will make healthy living a household philosophy in Anambra State.
Mrs Soludo also noted that members of the club will be placed on certain admission benchmarks like personal cleanliness, passion for the tasks, punctuality to school, good dressing, better habits and obedience.
The Anambra first lady while explaining that she intends to domicile her healthy living movement fully in Anambra State, observed that with the return of inter-school games in secondary schools in Anambra State, the healthy living clubs will spur students to getting better in their homes and chosen careers.
