Aniocha North Local Government in Delta State Executive Chairman, Hon Kevin Okwechime has in his usual manner, visited the site of the ongoing repair works on the failed portions along the main entrance road to Issele-Uku, the administrative headquarters of the Local Government area, on a routine on the spot supervision of the project.

The repair works on the road which is critical to the wellbeing of the people of the area is being undertaken by the Local Government Council under his administration.

He observed that work has been considerably in progress, with heavy truck dropping asphalt that is being overlaid with asphalt rollers on the failed portions, having been structured with concrete stone base, mixed with cement.

The road spans from the Issele-Uku city gate down to the Issele-Mkpitime-Olona roundabout where the entrance to the junction and its entire circumference is also being taken care of by the Local Government.

Okwechime also visited the Umueze Street road, also being rehabilitated by the Council, as well as some critical roads within Issele-Uku Metropolis and Onich-Ugbo, where failed portions are also being repaired.

The council boss, who was on spot assessment of the project with some of the officials of his administration, was equally joined by some residents who visibly expressed great delight over the ongoing repair works on the roads.

In a chat with cshowcasenews.com, he expressed satisfaction with the level of work so far done and commended the project handlers for maintaining quality in consonance with job specifications.

According to him, “the local Government embarked on the project with a view to giving the people of the area a sense of belonging based on the limited resources available to his administration.

He advocated for the reactivation and strengthening of State Direct Labour Agency towards effective and regular maintenance of State roads, saying that it would always amount to nothing after spending huge sums of money to construct roads and leave it unmaintained until it becomes deplorable.

Hon. Okwechime however, maintained that his administration will continue to do everything within its limited resources to ensure that the people of the area continue to feel the impact of the Local Government which he stressed remains the Government that is closer to the grass roots.

Under his administration, the council has embarked on the construction of open market stalls and sinking of water boreholes in some communities in the council area.

Some of the benefiting communities in the LGC are; Onich-Ugbo, Onicha-Olona and Idumu-Ogo, with Open Market Stalls and Water Boreholes while Issele-Mkpitime and some other communities will have some block of classrooms in their various primary schools earmarked for comprehensive renovations this year.
