Today at the palace of HRH Igwe Julius Nnaji (Odezuluigbo III), the first joint meeting of the National and State Burial Committees for late Chief Engr. Raymond Okenwa (RN Okenwa) was held by the leadership of Ikenga Nkanu World Wide.
Speaking at the inaugural joint meeting which was well attended by notable personalities in Nkanu Land such as – Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, Sir. Chinyeaka Ohaa, Hon. Prince Cornelius Nnaji, and the host of others, the Chancellor, Ikenga Nkanu World Wide, Sir SNC Nwagu charged members to put in their best to ensure a smooth running of the committees.
His words “We are people of high reputation and regards -and our late brother, Late Engr. R.N Okenwa, Nnanyelugo 1, OON, MNI, deserves to be given a befitting burial”.
After engaging in a very constructive meeting among members of the INW, the following resolutions was made – and they are:
1. Thursday 14th November, 2024 will be Wake-keep
2. Friday (Orie) 15th
November 2024 will be burial date.
3. 16th of November, Funeral Continues.
4. Sunday 17th November, 2024 will be Thanksgiving Service.
Furthermore, Seven Sub-Committees was afterward inaugurated to make planning and organising a lot more easier. The sub-committees are as follows:
1. Protocol – Dr. JOC Ajah Fr. SSG, Chairman ESUBEB
2. Publicity Sub- committee – Sir, SNC Nwagu
3. Finance – Chief Fidelis Anih – Fmr. Area Manager, Zenith Bank Plc
4. Works – Hon. Prince Engr. Lawrence Ezeh (PhD)
5. Security – Hon. Obiorah Ugwu
6. Culture & Tradition – Chief Tony Iyiagwo
7. Entertainment
In his closing remarks, the burial committee chairman, Hon. Prince Paul Nnaji, thanked all those that made it to the meeting.
“I sincerely appreciate your time and commitment. I know that as we join forces together, we shall achieve our goal. The family of late brother, R.N Okenwa is happy with our show of love and brotherliness. I thank His Excellency the Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah for his continuous support in this move so far. My prayers for everyone you is that God almighty will never leave you nor your family in times of trouble”, he said.
