Blood Festival at Urum, Anambra State

Blood Festival at Urum, Anambra State

By Aniedobe

A gentleman who luckily made it out alive from a notorious kidnap den at Urum, near Awka, alleged that harvesting body parts presumably for rituals was actively going on in the camp.

His account, making the rounds on WhatsApp, was bone chilling and galling.

The kidnappers were efficient. No victim was wasted. Either the victim pays hefty ransom to have a hope of freedom or failing that, the victim’s organs are harvested and the rest of his/her dismembered body dumped into a nearby trench.

Igbo kids are doing this not Fulani herdsmen. Not unknown gunmen. Not Ipob apologists. Just young Igbo males making a living in the most dastardly way possible:

In scantily concealed knowledge of both Enugu and Anambra State governments as alleged;

In apparently unconcealed view of the town and people of Urum who cast a knowing blind eye to their forest;

Alili egbuem.

The operation was large. The camp was set up in the forest. Victims were brought in in their vehicles. Professional cooks were serving them. Harvested body parts were dispatched like any other goods. Bank accounts were set up for collecting ransom. The kidnappers ran a full-fledged industrial operation with all the paraphernalia needed to support not just a life of crime but a “joyful” life, selling organs and collecting ransom for livelihood.

In other words, this was not a cell of organ harvesters but a full-blown industry for a most heinous trade operating in unconcealed view of the police, town, and government of Anambra State.

My wit can’t stretch further without shredding its entire fabric.

I am sure some paid government apologetics would dismiss this as an antigovernment propaganda but the account was dripping with dense indicia of facts that I would urge Anambra State Police Command and Anambra State government to not embarrass themselves by daring to refute the account or its goriness.

I beg government apologists to bow their heads and don sack clothe and ashes. This was an indictment.

Organ harvesting is now a growing industry in Igboland based on a no kidnap victim wasted paradigm. It is either your organs or your money.

Many kidnap victims now disappear without a trace. It does not stretch the imagination to slot them in the organ harvest wing of this growing evil.

Report kidnap cases to your local police and be surprised by their inertia and outright lack of interest. Ask family members of those who have passed through this ordeal. The police, if they were candid, would admit that they would be out gunned and out manned, and rescue attempts were simply tantamount to suicide. And they urge victims to try and settle.

In one case I was involved in, the police kept collecting money for tracking and money for fueling their vehicles. My friend parted with close to 3 million naira paid to Nigerian Police in futile attempts to track, search and rescue her brother. Body has not been found after 9 months. Hope still wells that her 73 year old brother would come back though his car was eventually found.

The kidnappers know that the police ain’t coming. They operate with impunity. They dont care if anyone is tracking the phone numbers of their victims.

Bankers dare not question the unusual transactions of heavy lodgments not backed by legitimate enterprises.

The kidnappers dare the government to rouse from dread and come after them. They know that the kidnap industry has apparently outgrown the muscular capacity of Anambra state government to handle. They now maraud in open view with police and security personnel casting a sideward glance from the safety of their gated compounds.

The organ harvesting and kidnap operation at Urum, as alleged, is not isolated. Anambra State appears studded with a plurality of such operations judging from the rate at which people are now disappearing without a trace.

Alili egbue mu.

Who is buying human body parts and why? How much are they paying for them? Why this level of decadence in this day and age?

Throughout Igbo land, the youth are clamoring for return to African Traditional Religion. Ritualists of traditional religion have sprouted everywhere and they demand body parts for heightened potency leading to a sharp rise in demand for body parts. With demand comes suppliers. If the resurgence of adherents to Traditional religion is not portentous, what else can it be.

Igbo society is going to the dogs. The kidnappers, the ritualistic, their wealth seeking clients and their entire value chain spell unmitigated decadence.

Ihe emebi wo.

Lord Jesus, hurry up and come back because Igbo land has fallen apart. Ha si na Igbu mmadu bu omenani. Our ancestors didn’t do this. Who is teaching Igbo kids how to be blood hounding jackals for money under the gods of their ancestors?  Which gods? Which ancestors? Which religion are these kids embracing in the name of going back to their roots? Which roots?
