Cutting Down on the Cost of Governance: A Satirical Case Study of President Bola Tinubu’s Media Army

Ladies and gentlemen, gather around for the great Nigerian show of “Cost of Governance Reduction,” starring President Bola Tinubu’s ever-expanding *Media Avengers*!

Let’s meet the cast:

1. Daniel Bwala– Special Adviser, Public Communication and Media. Basically, the guy who tells us why the ship is sinking but assures us it’s part of the plan.

2. Bayo Onanuga – Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. His strategy? More information, less transparency.

3. Sunday Dare – Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation. Orientation? Like a GPS for navigating all the spin.

4. Tunde Rahman– Senior Special Assistant to the President — Media. In charge of reminding us how things are “going according to plan”…whatever the plan is.

5. Abdulaziz Abdulaziz– Senior Special Assistant to the President — Print Media. A rare species in the digital age, keeping print alive one op-ed at a time.

6. O’tega Ogra – Senior Special Assistant (Digital/New Media). Because tweets don’t post themselves, and TikTok is serious governance business.

7. Tope Ajayi – Senior Special Assistant (Media & Public Affairs). Master of spinning public affairs into private wins.

8. Segun Dada– Special Assistant — Social Media. The digital noise maker, armed with hashtags and clapbacks.

9. Nosa Asemota– Special Assistant (Visual Communication). Turning Photoshop into policy.

10. Fela Durotoye – Senior Special Assistant to the President — National Values & Social Justice. Because someone has to remind us what those are, right?

11. Fredrick Nwabufo– Senior Special Assistant to the President — Public Engagement. Engaging with who, though? The public seems confused.

12. Linda Nwabuwa Akhigbe – Senior Special Assistant to the President — Strategic Communications. Strategically communicating… the strategy. And what’s even the strategy?

13. Aliyu Audu – Special Assistant to the President — Public Affairs. Public affairs so secret, even the public isn’t sure what they are.

Oh, and don’t forget the Minister of Information, presiding over this grand orchestra of redundancy.

For a government preaching austerity, this lineup feels more like a wedding party than a lean media team.

At this rate, we might need a Special Adviser on Reducing the Number of Special Advisers.

But hey, what’s another mouth to feed when governance is just one big buffet?

Meanwhile, the rest of us mere mortals are here debating the price of rice and petrol. But don’t worry, this team has it all under control — or at least under communiqué.

What do you think?
