…Says APC Victory’s Succour To People Of Edo
Following the inauguration of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his Deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa for the next four years, UK based Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Abraham Jimawo (JP) has congratulated with the duo on their victory.
In his felicitation, he urged both the Governor and Deputy Governor on an all-inclusive government while they embark on the governance of the state for the next four years.
Chief Jimawo who chaired the Sen. Monday Okpebholo for Governor Support Group in the UK and Ireland, cum Former Executive Director, Edo State Rapid Response Agency and played a prominent role in the victory of the ruling AlPC in the election, said “with elections over, it is time for governance.”
He continued, “I congratulate the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo and the Deputy Governor, Hon Dennis Idahosa for their deserved victory poll and subsequent inauguration. No doubt, this is a new beginning of good things to come for our beloved Edo State and its people.
“The emergence of Senator Okpebholo and Hon. Idahosa as Governor and Deputy Governor of Edo State respectively is a divine arrangement meant to rescue Edo State and put a smile on the faces of the good people of the State.
“It is meant to wipe away the tears of our people who suffered untold hardship in the eight difficult years of politics of exclusion and vengeance played by the immediate past Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led administration,” Chief Jimawo said.
According to him, APC’s victory in the state will kick-start a clean slate for thepeople, as the businessman cum politician, urged the new administration to govern with the citizens of Edo State in mind, adding that democracy is all about the people regardless of their political or cultural leanings.
He continued: “I urge the new administration to carry all Edo people along irrespective of religious, cultural and political affiliations and build a new Edo State where all will be proud to belong and call their home.
“The new Governor must shun sycophants who may come around him to destroy others before him to reap where they have not sown. The task of rebuilding Edo State should be a collective one and I want to assure His Excellency the Governor of my full and unwavering support.
“I will use my local and international connections and goodwill to support the government of Gov. Okpebholo to bring about massive agricultural development and direct foreign investments to Edo State,” Chief Jimawo assured.
The Governor and his Deputy were sworn in last week at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, the Edo State capital at a grand ceremony attended by prominent government officials including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu and National Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje among others.
