Worried by the Party’s current situation, a Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Chief Anthony Amalu, has called on party members to jettison personal interests which is promoting internal crises in the party.
He said, “There is no naysaying that interest has remained the paramount driving force in every political association.
“However, interests can become a cog in the wheel of progress when personal interest overrides the collective interest of the party.
Though, he lamented that such internal bickering is killing the state chapter of the party but emphasized that it is quite unfortunate that some members with divergent views are easily labelled as moles without recourse to the dictionary meaning of moles.
He decried his distaste for a toxic environment which is inimical to progress and called on all party faithful in the state to make hay while the sun shines.
“Party leadership requires sagacity and patient to manage and accommodate divergent opinions, characters and individuals,” mentioned Amalu
The APC Chieftain asked the leadership of the party to borrow a leaf from PBAT since, when he formed APC, he cushioned members on the severe consequences of disunity in view of the Party’s action plan to capture the state and align with the power at the center.
But following, disagreements between the party, he called on members to employ all available internal and alternative dispute resolution mechanism to resolve every issue in time, as Chief Amalu also suggested that a reconciliation committee be set up immediately to wage in, reconcile members and forge a common front ahead of the forth coming elections.
“A committee which he even volunteered to lead,” he added.
End.
