Gov Hope Embarks on Unscheduled Inspection

… Vows to Complete High Quality Road

His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma has paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the 46km Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road alongside the Commissioner for Works, Ralph Nwosu, to ascertain the construction progression.

The Governor who visited the road yesterday reiterated his administration commitments in completing the road project insisting that quality construction inline with government approved specifications and global practices must be strictly implemented by the contractor, supervising ministry and agencies of government.

Speaking to newsmen at the inspection exercise, the Works Commissioner expressed optimism that with the construction pace as seen, that the road project will be completed within the record time while urging road users to continue to give maximum support and cooperation to the contractor for seamless realization of the project.

Ralph Nwosu in his words stated that the 46km Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road have received a total of 20km of asphalt in segments and are as fellows;

1.) Fire Service to the Okantankwu Bridge –  9.3km (Asphalted)

2.) Airport junction to Ahiara junction (without the junction) – 10.7km  (Asphalted)

Construction of drainages at these segments are completed while junction improvements works are underway at different intersections of the road, he added.

The inspection visit had the Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, Chief of Staff, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie and other top government functionaries on the Governor’s entourage.
