Let me begin this short essay by clarifying the fact that there is no society in the face of this world that is completely free from pockets of insecurity at one time or the other. Even USA, Canada, UK, Etc that can be said to be technologically advanced occasionally experience one form of security breech or the other, as we, at times read reported cases of school shootings, killings etc in those countries. The world we live in is full of evil men and women who work to cause security upheaval and demystify security arrangement at times
However, having said that, let me again commend Governor Hope Uzodimma for living up to Imo people’s expectations of him in protecting lives and properties. Anybody in Imo both those living in Imo and those that came back and who still has truth in him will attest to the fact that Imo people had a peaceful 2024 yuletide.
There was and still a secured atmosphere in every inch of Imo state. Imo people moved around, attended functions, celebrated with their loved ones, organized football competitions and different cultural festivities in a peaceful atmosphere. There was no reported cases of shootings, killings in churches and public gatherings etc.
The security arrangement that the Governor set up before, after and up till this period is top notch. This fact must be stressed and I am doing that with a sense of satisfaction and a heart of appreciation. Although, there could be one or two incidences of untoward insecurity situation or the other but those are normal in every society as I said that intermittent insecurity is as old as humanity but overall, there has been a tremendous security development in the state since 2022 but last year’s own was like the highest.
If there is another area outside the giant strides in Infrastructural development particularly road construction that the Governor deserves a pat in his back, it is on the area of security arrangement. We can recall the insecurity downpour, suspiciously contrived that visited Imo state in 2021 and 2022 that could have overwhelmed any lilly-livered Governor which Governor Uzodimma rolled up his sleeves, confronted and defeated courageously.
I commend the headship of the Police, Military, DSS, Civil Defence and other paramilitary agencies for their collaborative efforts and synergy in the state. This current Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma is very dutiful and a core professional. At least, I can attest to this from a personal relationship and experience of him. The Brigade Commander of the 34 Field Artillery Brigade Obinze deserves to be commended including the DSS etc. Their team really provided the enabling environment Imo people enjoyed in line with the Governor’s arrangement
Granted, it is not all that Uhuru yet as the arrangement needs to be sustained and possibly improved upon but all together, Imo people are happy and appreciate the Governor and all of them. They have done well. Last year Christmas and this new year celebrations are one of the best in recent times. Governor Hope Uzodimma is a man that speaks more through his actions than words. He works his talks. He has really impressed Imo people security wise and infrastructurally. It can only continue to get better
