Governor Uzodimma Projects the True Essence Of Easter

As Christians all over the world gradually return to their normal lives following the end of the Easter celebrations and holidays, everyone who had the privilege to follow the Easter festivities in Imo State would have felt a solemn sense of what the season really represents beyond the ceremonies and very busy events that usually go with the season.

His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, as a devout Catholic makes it a point of duty not just to celebrate the season but to fully observe all the rituals associated with the period, in spirit and in truth. This year was not different.

From observing the 40 days Lenten period through abstinence and charity, the governor who understands that Easter is the most important period in Christendom, made sure to participate in a number of activities, especially, the Catholic Mass and other private solemn activities that were aimed at deepening his personal faith in Jesus Christ and also advancing the course of the kingdom.

Known for being deliberate in keeping most of his charitable works out of the media, the governor did not fail to utilise the opportunity of the Easter season to carry out significant works of charity, including, helping the needy, supporting those who are in need of various forms of support and preaching the gospel of the Risen Christ through works and words.

At the Easter Sunday Mass which was held at his home parish, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish, Ozuh-Omuma, the governor seized the opportunity to remind the creme of Imo nay Nigerian pilgrims who trooped to the Church to join him in observing the sacred commemoration of Christ’s death, that the true essence of the festival is love.

He enjoined everyone to make the best of the season by eschewing bitterness and unforgiven spirit in their dealings with one another, and rather show genuine love even to those who do not wish them well, in line with the teachings of Christ Jesus, whose death and resurrection we celebrate at Easter. He also called on Imolites of varying political backgrounds and persuasions to unite behind the common vision of service for the prosperity of the State, reminding them that even though they might not agree politically, they remain siblings from one Imo.

The governor assured that he, as a servant of the people of Imo State, shall remain committed to promoting ideals of love, selflessness, forgiveness and peace in serving Imo people, underscoring his understanding that the best way for leaders to serve God is by working with available resources to ensure that the people have an easier and more comfortable livelihoods.
