The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has applauded police officers and operatives of other security agencies for their conducts and unwavering support in ensuring the safety and security of during the election in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States.
In a press statement signed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, it was noted that the IGP commended the commitment and diligence exhibited by these security personnel during the polls.
According to ACP Adejobi’s statement, despite initial threat assessments and projected challenges from various quarters, the electoral process went on seamlessly thanks to exceptional efforts made by these security operatives who maintained law and order while safeguarding citizens’ safety.
The Police PRO acknowledged pockets of incidences recorded during elections in these states; he also tasked Electoral Offenses Desk Officers with immediate investigations under the supervision of DIGs at FCID.
The IGP Kayode Egbetokun expressed gratitude towards all participating security agencies for lending their support towards securing democratic institutions across Nigeria. He called on officers to remain committed to upholding high standards of professionalism and integrity while emphasizing adherence to guidelines as well as standard operating procedures laid out by respective agencies for more secure democratic institution in Nigeria.
