Indonesian Govt partners Enugu State in Mining Industry

… says they also have interest in renewable energy

… invites Enugu State to her economic summit in October 2023

Ambassador of Indonesia to Nigeria Dr Usra Hendra has said that Indonesia has interest to invest in mining, renewable energy and oil industries in Nigeria. 

The Ambassador revealed this at the Enugu State Government House during his visit to the Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah with his entourage.

Buttressing the point further, he added that Enugu State is one of the major states in Nigeria that they have chosen to partner in mining industry and renewable energy; adding that Indonesian Embassy wants to know the availability of minerals in Enugu State, which are essential to their industries.

His words, “I will also like to draw your attention to Indonesian significant desire to invest in mining and energy sectors in Nigeria.

“In this regard, we wish to have the opportunity to invest in the exploration of the reserves of the critical minerals.

“These resources are essential to industries including electronics and renewable energy.”

He said that Indonesia is available investor to harness the Nigerian mining industry and would be excited to start the cooperation through Enugu State as to contribute to the development of Southeastern Region.

The ambassador added, “Our Embassy is keen to have detailed information about the availability of these critical mineral deposits, prospective local partners as well as procedures of investment applied in Enugu.”

 Dr Usra invited the Governor Mbah and the business men in Enugu State to their 5-day Economic Expo, which would start on the 18th through 22nd  of October, 2023 in Indonesia.

He said that the business expo would create a platform for Enugu Governor and the businessmen of Enugu to meet Indonesian businessmen for businesses and discover investment opportunities that would be beneficial for them.

Responding to the ambassador of Indonesia, the Executive Governor of Enugu State said that the ambassador’s visit was important because it was what his government looked forward to since he promised the people of Enugu State that he would make Enugu the premier destination for investment and tourism.

He said that Enugu State is sitting on coal, which was why Enugu is called a Coal City; adding that Enugu’s coal is the best in the world followed by Japanese coal.

He made the ambassador know that Enugu State has created Mineral and Energy Ministry because Enugu has rich deposits of gas and minerals.

He opined that Enugu has mapped out three thousand hectares of land for agriculture and has many minerals like precious stones, lime stones, iron stones, glass sand etc and only need investors.

He also said that Enugu State wouldn’t think about the invitation to attend Indonesian Economic Summit, but jump on it to seize the opportunity to showcase the investment opportunities in Enugu State.
