Former National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dr. Chris Isiguzo has congratulated the Union on its 70th anniversary, commending its resilience and dedication towards of the defending press freedom, promoting professionalism, advocating for journalists’ welfare.
Isiguzo in a heartfelt letter, commended the current National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdulahi, the National Executive Council, and all members of the Union for the significant role the NUJ has played in shaping Nigeria’s media landscape since its founding in 1955.
Expressing pride in the progress made during his six-year tenure as president, Isiguzo highlighted the Union’s focus on improving journalists’ working conditions and ethical standards. He emphasized the NUJ’s vital role in upholding justice, defending press freedom, and ensuring journalists’ safety, even in challenging environments.
Isiguzo expressed optimism for its future under Comrade Abdulahi’s leadership as the Union celebrates this milestone revealing his believes that the NUJ will continue to build on its legacy, confront new challenges, and safeguard its core values.
