The Leadership of Muslim and Christian Youths Integration for Good Leadership Initiative ( MCY) has extended greetings and best wishes to all Christians in Nigeria especially the Catholic brethren.
The MCY made this call in a statement co-signed by its National President, Ambassador Anthony Amalu and the National Secretary, Aliyu Maryama.
The group which stated that lent is a period of repentance, renewal and deep reflection disclosed that the ashes received is a call for purity and the seeking a closer relationship with God.
The statement reads: “Lent is a time of repentance, renewal, and deep reflection on our faith, reminding us of the values of sacrifice, humility, and love. The principles that unite people of all faiths in the pursuit of a just and peaceful society. The ashes received today symbolize both our human frailty and the call to turn away from sin, seeking a closer relationship with God and our neighbors.”
Encouraging Christians to be selfless as they commence the 40 days fast, the MCY called for more prayers that will foster peace, unity, and good leadership in communities and in Nigeria as a country while wishing a transformative Lenten season.
“In a time when our nation faces many challenges, we encourage all Christians to use this period for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, not only as acts of personal devotion but also as a commitment to fostering peace, unity, and good leadership in our communities. Just as Jesus Christ exemplified love and selflessness, we urge everyone to extend hands of friendship across religious lines, promoting dialogue, understanding, and national harmony.
May this Lenten journey bring you spiritual renewal, and may the grace of God inspire all of us, Christians and Muslims alike to work together for the common good of our beloved Nigeria.
Wishing you a blessed and transformative Lenten season.” the statement concludes.
