… Describe Consensus Arrangement as Masterstroke
… Set for a clean sweep across 27 LGAs and 305 wards
The powerful wisdom of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, especially, in recommending and eventually mobilising the Party’s rank and file into adopting this less rancorous option has been hailed by a majority of the Party’s aspirants for either LGA chairmanship or ward councillorship.
Following a successful and transparent conduct of the primaries which saw to the emergence of credible and highly popular candidates for the various LG administration offices, candidates who were not favoured by the Party’s rank and file have quickly conceded the election and are mobilising for APC’s victory across board.
The APC recorded an overwhelming number of subscriptions during the sale of its expression of interest and nomination forms (approximately 200 chairmanship aspirants and we’ll over 800 councillorship aspirants purchased forms), underlining its massive acceptability across Imo grassroots, had been projected to descend into major crisis by outsiders, but the wisdom of His Excellency in managing the situation and keeping the Party together, ensured that the projections of pessimists never saw the light of the day.
While the efficiency and effectiveness of the Party’s State Working Committee under the very charismatic and pragmatic leadership of Ebere Macdonald Kelechi PhD, cannot be questioned, His Excellency, as the undisputed leader of the Party in the State brought his wealth of wisdom and popularity among Party faithfuls and Imolites in general into bear by appealing to the peaceful disposition and unquestionable loyalty of the Party’s members to agree to a consensus arrangement.
This, as noted, saved the aspirants huge sums of money which many of them might have spent in trying to woo Party leaders and members. This option is also credited with reducing rancour within the Party and eschewing possible violence that some opposition desperados had planned during the primaries.
Contrary to fake information being peddled by disgruntled, disoriented and defeated members of the unpopular opposition in the State, an overwhelming majority of the aspirants are in absolute support of the Party’s leadership and there have been series of congratulatory messages from various aspirants, while many of them have constituted themselves into the campaign teams of the victorious candidates.
A prominent aspirant from Ikeduru LGA who is also a respected cleric, Reverend Dr CNN Nwanebu, in congratulating the Party’s successful candidate, Hon. Justice Nzeh, offered all necessary support to him; both financial, advisory and political to ensure he emerges victorious in the election.
Describing the candidate as his beloved brother, Nwanebu urged his teeming supporters to align fully with the Party’s candidate to ensure that they emerge victorious.
Also, a prominent aspirant from Aboh-Mbaise, Dr. Chibuike Onyeukwu has been working closely with the Party’s candidate, Chief Iheukwumere Alaribe in mobilising for victory in the election. He praises the governor and Party leadership for ensuring a less rancorous nomination process and assured of his 100% loyalty and solidarity to the governor.
A councillorship aspirant from Ideato South, Mr. Unegbu Wallace, took his concession a step higher by proposing to donate the One Million Naira he used in the purchase of forms, which the Party has generously refunded to all unsuccessful aspirants, to the Party.
In his letter to the Party’s chairman, Wallace, commended the Party’s leadership for their transparency and wisdom in concluding the nomination process in line with the guidelines of the Party and Imo State bye-laws on LGA administration.
The APC has been projected to have a clean sweep of all the seats on September 21st,by respected political pundits. They refer to the election as a walkover by the ruling Party, crediting governor Uzodimma’s unassailable popularity across the State and the cohesion within the Party, as well as the popularity of the Party’s candidates.
Writing in an op-ed for a tabloid, Professor Udekwu Chinagorom dismissed all the other political Parties as mere jesters, arguing that the ruling Party has undoubtedly put in the work to sweep all the available seats in the coming election.
“It will be a shocking surprise to everyone if any of the opposing Parties score any substantial votes across the polling stations in the State, because, apart from Governor Uzodimma’s undeniable popularity across the State, these Parties have at most, been non-existent in the consciousness of the average Imolites.
There is clearly no other political Party in Imo State and I say that as an independent and a researcher. The APC will win everywhere to consolidate their popular acceptance in the State.” He concluded.
A prominent chairmanship aspirant in Owerri West, Comrade Chidi Anthony Ordu, popularly known as Madoka, has also dissolved his campaign outfit and aligned fully with the successful candidate for the election. Madoka, who has had a brief stint as the elected chairman of Owerri West Council is known for his mobilisation capacity and strong leadership with the youths of the LGA.
