Mrs Nonye Soludo, founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, has asked youths of the state to invest in making healthy living a culture.

The governor’s wife was speaking at the Awka South council headquarters during her ongoing grassroots youths engagement across the twenty-one local government areas of Anambra State.

One of the primary aims of the healthy living community youth engagements is to get youths in the grassroots involved in the crusade by giving them charge of the programme in their respective vicinities.

Addressing the youths, Mrs Soludo said that her crusade does not just concentrate on promoting healthy lifestyle, but also on changing harmful social issues including cultism, drug use among children and child raising problems.

She noted that healthy living remains an indispensable aspect of life, explaining that her aim is to lead a campaign for a healthy Anambra State beginning from the home.

The governor’s wife further restated that she hopes to use the programme to touch many lives, with the prime target being to establish a sustainable philosophy of health that will benefit all ages.

On his part, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba applauded the governor’s wife for taking the crusade directly to youths in the grassroots, and pledged to continue to support the programme by getting more youths involved in the process.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike was also available to teach the youths important aspects of the exercise, one of which is the elementary knowledge of emergency basic life support skills.

Earlier, the Transition Committee of Awka South, Mr ThankGod Anagor underscored the overall importance of health to a productive society, noting that with the rampant cases of mental health challenges, the crusade will solve disturbing societal issues.

He stated that through the programme, Mrs Soludo has raised renewed consciousness on critical health issues that were barely discussed.

Youths representatives from towns in Awka South, including corps members servicing in the local government area, were at the event.

The president of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli, was also there.
