The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ)FCT Chapter has condoled with the family of late member and leader, Hajia Rafat Idris Salami.
Rafat Salami transited at wee hours of Friday the 20th of December 20, 2024.
NAWOJ in its condolence message co- signed by its Chairperson, Bassey Ita Ikpang and Nkiru Okeke Secretary, described the late Rafat Salami as a beacon of integrity and professionalism in the field of journalism.
The condolence message reads: “On behalf of the Chairperson, Bassey Ita Ikpang, the Executive, and all members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) FCT, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of our dear member and leader, Rafat Salami.
NAWOJ FCT has indeed lost a media icon and an exceptional personality!
Rafat was not only a distinguished broadcast journalist with the Voice of Nigeria (VON), but also a former Secretary of the NUJ FCT Council, and the current Treasurer of the International Press Institute (IPI).
She was a beacon of excellence, integrity, and professionalism in the field of journalism. Her contribution to the journalism profession, her mentorship, and her unwavering dedication to truth and justice will forever be remembered.
We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family, colleagues, and all who were fortunate to know her. We all will miss Rafat!
May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us all.”
