NITDA Partners Enugu State in Digital Job Creation

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) ably represented by the Director Zonal Offices Dr Babajide Ajayi said today at the Government of Enugu State that NITDA wants to partner Enugu State in digital job creation.

Dr Ajayi who also said that NITDA has scheduled a one-day workshop to engage stakeholders in Enugu added that the workshop is to sensitive stakeholders on how they  could benefit from the numerous programmes of NITDA.

He also informed the State Governor of Enugu State that the GD of NITDA has directed that its Southeast zonal office be situated on Enugu State.
His words, “We are here in Enugu State to look at how we can actually deepen our collaboration with the state governments. We want to work with the state governments; we want to connect with the stakeholders in the states.


“And also, we want to share our strategic mission with the states and see how the states can tape into our mission.
“In addition to this, we want also to explain how we can further partner with the states to drive digital economy.
“We came up with the stakeholders’ engagement that we are going to be holding tomorrow. This will form a platform for us to actually engage the people in Enugu State, the stakeholders in the Enugu State, hear from them

and tell them what we are doing in the agency in regard to ICT.
“I want to also convey the DG’s message to you that there has been an approval for us to site in the Southeast Office in Enugu.” 
Dr Ajayi also informed the Governor of Enugu State that NITDA has plan to train one million persons in ICT, create jobs for them, empower them especially youth in order to take them off the street, supporting start-ups and train agencies.

Responding to him, the State Governor made him know that their choice of Enugu being the zonal office was the right step in the right direction since his administration has a seven-fold mantra of taking the IGR of Enugu .
He informed them that Enugu has a programme of digitally empowering a target of forty thousand youth digitally every year in the next four to eight years of his administration; saying, “This is in alignment with what you have said looking at one million people.” 

He said that his government needed the partnership since NITDA’s mission is in consonance with his government’s mission, calling it, “Marriage in heaven.”
