I learnt a lesson on health some years back as an undergraduate chasing CGPA, hence my commitment to hard studying. I was devoted to a regimented schedule of studying.
Then one day I broke down, I fell sick, very sick that I was only on lying position and couldn’t do anything, I was looking at my books but could not lift them, let alone studying them. I became useless to myself.
Then it dawn on me that health is extremely important and very precious, that one is only up and doing, chasing dreams and visions when you have health. You can only stay committed to whatever (job, business or course) when you are fit. When health breaks down, everything stand still.
This year prioritize your health in all of your doings and goings. Nothing worth costing your health, nothing worth sacrificing your health for. Be intentional about protecting and nurturing your health.
Your employer hired healthy you and will dispose unhealthy you if the condition persists. Your business is only doable when you are healthy, if you fall ill, you can no longer function, at its best, you have some stand in for you, which can never be the same.
Your friends and acquittance treasure you because you are fit and useful, very few of them will retain the relationship if you lost your health. Hard truth! Even family and kins can dissociate with you when you no longer have health. So be deliberate in protecting your physical and mental health.
Eat well and eat healthy, ironically natural foods are healthier and much more affordable than processed foods that are expensive and poisonous. Eat timely. Rigidly obey medical advice, it’s foolish to disregard them. Stay off sweet or enjoyable but deadly consumptions.
Don’t overwork yourself, work smart to stay healthy so you can keep showing. Rest well, form the habit of having sufficient night sleep, rest when you should.
If your work does not involve physical exercises, learn to engage in physical exercise to stay fit and healthy. You can replace the use of machines with using human strength occasionally, like climbing staircase instead of taking lift, trekking instead of driving.
Jealously guard your mental health, it’s as important as your physical health, or even more important, dissociate with whatever tampers with your emotions negatively, surround yourself with things that gives you positive emotions.
When faced with situations that can distress you physically or emotionally, use the gratitude pills therapy, choose attitude of gratitude and staying positive over negative emotions. Recite to yourself “you can’t afford high blood pressure, so calm down on this”.
Several consequences on health recklessness don’t surface in the present but in the future. Nurture your health for now and the future.
Don’t subscribe to anything whatsoever with negative effect on your health. Priotize your health to STAY ALIVE and STAY HEALTHY. Next to LIFE is HEALTH.
