Rotary District 9112 kicks off ROSFEST 2026, a five day inter-club sports festival promoting mental wellness, camaraderie, and community service.
Rotary District 9112 has officially launched the much anticipated Rotary Sports Festival (ROSFEST 2026) under the theme “Sports for Service”, setting the stage for five days of fun, wellness, and fellowship.

The event promises to strengthen bonds among Rotarians while promoting mental and physical health across the community gathered the representative of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Director General, Lebanon Fatodu amongst others.
In his opening remarks, District Governor Rtn. Lanre Adedoyin, FCA described sports as a universal force that brings people together, regardless of age or background. He expressed pride that ROSFEST was introduced in the district and promised that the festival’s legacy would continue even as he hands over leadership.

“Sport has the power to unite communities and build lasting relationships,” DG Adedoyin said.
“ROSFEST is not just about competition; it’s about wellness, teamwork, and inspiring Rotarians to serve better.”
He also commended the organizing committee for their meticulous planning, noting that the festival would encourage leadership, camaraderie, and engagement at every Rotary club.
In his address, PP Alozie Nsirimobi, Chairman of the Rotary Sports Activities Committee, welcomed participants while highlighting the festival’s timing as perfect in today’s global focus on mental and physical wellness.

“The Rotary Sports Festival is like a dream that came when its time was due. There may not have been a better moment to introduce sports into Rotary,” he said.

He explained that ROSFEST was inspired by the call of Rotary International President 2023/2024, Gordon R. McInally, to prioritize mental health and take meaningful action. The festival also aligns with Rotary’s Strategic Priorities, including expanding reach, increasing impact, and enhancing participation across clubs.

He described ROSFEST 2026 as unlimited fun filled five days featuring 12 sports disciplines ranging from golf, football, volleyball, table tennis, tug of war, chess, snooker, draughts, Scrabble, ayo olopon, 100m dash, to 4x100m relay races.

The golf tournament will be held on February 12 at the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938, while the grand finale on February 13 at Abalti Barracks will feature a football kick-off led by Nigerian football legend Victor Ikpeba.
PP Nsirimobi emphasized the festival’s inter-club structure, which encourages non Rotarians to join the organization, creating a “honeycomb” effect for membership growth. Partnerships with the Lagos State Sports Commission ensure professional coaching and top-notch facilities, giving participants opportunities to excel beyond Rotary events.
Looking forward, ROSFEST aims to expand from District 9112 to a nationwide festival (ANIDSFEST), then to the African Rotary Zones Sports Festival (AFRISFEST), and ultimately a global Rotary International Districts Sports Festival (ARIDSFEST).
“Rotary is a super brand, and so is sports. Together, they promote wellness, attract new voices, and strengthen our global impact,” PP Nsirimobi said.
The festival will also host an exclusive evening with the Rotary International President on February 14 at Providence Hotel, GRA, where awards will be presented to top performing clubs and individuals, alongside exciting raffle prizes including flight tickets.
ROSFEST 2026 is more than a sports festival, it’s a celebration of service, unity, and growth, promising to leave a lasting legacy in Rotary history.
End.
