Sen Akobundu Has Done Well in Just One Year In Office – COSEYL

… He has justified the mandate given to him by his constituents.

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the apex sociopolitical youth group in the South East geopolitical zone after a careful appraisal of the performance of Senator Augustine Akobundu after one year in office, passes a “vote of confidence” on him for proving his mettle by bringing democracy dividends to his constituents.

Senator Akobundu has proven beyond every reasonable doubt that he came prepared to serve his people, evidence of which are his brilliant legislations, several people-oriented projects, human capital development activities among others, all of which he has made and is still making for the betterment of his people. What is more amazing is that he has achieved so much within one year.

The Senator has delivered an impressive chunk of his electoral promises to his people, and he is even doing more than he promised during the electioneering period. Men with such rare qualities are few in our time.

For example, Senator Akobundu has sponsored life transforming bills for the establishment of Institute of Information and Communications Technology in Umuahia North, a bill which, when brought to fruition, will further arm our youths with relevant ICT skills, develop the state and provide employment for our teeming youths.

The world is currently being driven by ICT, and any move towards empowering the youths in that area will always be a welcome development. On this, We commend the Senator.

The other bill is geared towards ensuring that his constituents are healthy enough to go about their daily businesses. To this end, Senator Austin Akobundu sponsored a bill for the establishment of Federal College of Health Technology in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State.

This move is a confirmation of the premium the Ikwuano-born senator places on health of his people of Abia Central Senatorial District, who elected him into office.

Obviously in a hurry and determined to see positive changes in the life of his constituents, Senator Akobundu, sponsored another bill for the establishment of National Sports University, Nsulu, Abia State, an institution which will help to address the issues of admission of our youths into tertiary institutions. The bill is also aimed to foster youth development and sports excellence.

Furthermore, our youths seeking employment after graduation from school are not left out of Senator Akubundu’s life touching performance as he has made his shoulders available for them to rest on while seeking employment opportunities in MDAs.

Among the federal agencies which he graciously facilitated the recruitment of his constituents are: the Federal Fire Service, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police, Nigerian Airforce (both Direct Short Service and regular recruitments), and the Nigerian Defence Academy.

The scorecard of Senator Akubundu who is the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs is very impressive.

We call on all and sundry to support him as he takes Abia Central senatorial zone to greater heights.

Signed:
Comrade Goodluck Ibem
President General
