Senator Austin Akobundu’s determination to activate and sustain night-time economy with its numerous advantages to his people of Abia Central Senatorial District has continued to gather momentum with the installation of streetlights in several markets.
With Apumiri and Ahiaukwu markets in Umuahia South LGA, Obikabia and Nkwo Nsulu markets in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Ahiaeke market in Umuahia North LGA, Ekeonyeugba market, Mbutu, in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Ariam and Ndoru markets in Ikwuano LGA, among others, already lit up, it was the turn of Nkwo Ebe market in Umunkpeyi Nvosi, also in Isiala Ngwa South LGA on Thursday as solar-powered streetlights were installed in the market eliciting joy from the traders and members of the community.
Speaking after the streetlights were switched on, the traders expressed their gratitude to Senator Akobundu for the gesture, saying that it would not only enhance their trading activities as they could now operate into the night thereby increasing sales and profits even as goods and services become available to late buyers, but that it would also enhance security and greatly improve aesthetics of the market and its surrounding areas. They promised to continue to support the senator in his unrelenting quest to provide dividends of democracy to the people.
