Umuahia, Capital of Abia State was flooded with zealous youths, following the registration for the second batch of Senator Austin Akobundu’s sponsored Digital Skills Acquisition Programme for youths of Abia Central Senatorial District as it commenced on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
The crowd stormed NOSTROCOM House, the Umuahia venue of the programme, as constituent youths from the senatorial district converged on the facility for their registration.
The skills acquisition programme which targets 1,000 youths ended its first batch on 28th December, 2024, with 186 participants, three from each of the 62 wards that make up the constituency, graduating after having been trained in different areas of modern, in-demand and commercially viable ICT fields.
The second batch commences after the success of the maiden scheme, slated for Monday, February 3, 2025, where participants will be trained on Web Design, Forex Trading, Software Development, Graphic Design, Data Science, and Digital Marketing.
The programme is one of Senator Austin Akobundu’s numerous pet projects that indicate his commitment to human capacity development, especially the empowerment of youths, for the purposes of turning them from job seekers to job creating entrepreneurs.
