The Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Austin Akobundu, has paid inspection visits to his ongoing skills acquisition centre projects in some LGAs across the senatorial district. The projects are a demonstration of Akobundu’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and their transformation from job seekers to job creators.
The skills acquisition centre in Ikwuano LGA has progressed significantly, reaching the lintel stage, with roofing scheduled to commence in three weeks. Similar progress has been recorded in Isiala Ngwa North, where the Centre, symbolically flagged off earlier, has also reached the lintel stage. Hon. Collins Ugochukwu Iheonunekwu, representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, inspected the project on behalf of the Distinguished Senator and provided updates, assuring constituents of timely delivery.
In addition, land acquisition for similar Centres in other local government areas is being perfected with construction billed to commence promptly after the festivities. These centres are designed to provide vocational training and certifications, equipping youth with globally competitive skills for a brighter future.
Elder Amaobi Chinyere, a local resident, commended the Senator for the Centres, saying their roles in reducing youth idleness, restiveness and fostering productivity can not be overemphasised.
Reiterating his commitment to the holistic development of Abia Central, Senator Akobundu said, “These projects are part of a larger strategy to uplift every local government in the district. My goal is to create a legacy that will outlive my time in the National Assembly.”
Recall that Senator Austin Akobundu had earlier flagged off the construction of some of the skills acquisition centres in November 2024 as part of activities marking his one year in office as Senator.
With numerous ongoing projects, Senator Austin Akobundu continues to demonstrate his dedication to empowering his constituents and laying the groundwork for a prosperous Abia Central.
