Soludo Presents 2024 Budget to Anambra State House Assembly

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has presented a budget of N410,132, 225, 272 for the fiscal year 2024 to the State House of Assembly.

The budget is focused on infrastructure development, education and healthcare and represents a significant increase of 57.8% from the previous year’s allocation.

Notable highlights include an allocation of N96.2 billion (23.46%) for recurrent expenditure and an allocation of N313.9 billion (76.54%) for capital expenditure with considerable increases in allocations across key sectors such as Administration (50.85%), Economy (103.43%), Judiciary (72.9%), Social Sector (60.24%), Education (140.88%) and Health(169 .55%).

In addition to this presentation, Governor Soludo also announced several new initiatives aimed at furthering development efforts within the state including; developing three new cities: Awka 2 .0 , Onitsha 2 .0 , and a new Industrial City; finalizing an industrial master plan; completing a railway master plan and feasibility study; signing a US$200 million project development advisory financing agreement with Afreximbank; continuing implementation efforts towards ease-of-doing-business initiative; completing Fun City construction along with building a branded international hotel in Awka.

Other initiatives announced by the governor include urban regeneration acceleration through Clean Green Planned Sustainable Anambra agenda targeting dualization of key highways modernizing mass transport systems creating new electricity market upgrading security operations using high technology applications significant investments into urban semi-urban water schemes provision coconut palm ukwa pawpaw soursop seedlings per household to over one hundred thousand households among others.

Governor Soludo emphasized that there is need for increased Internally Generated Revenue IGR calling on all residents within Anambra state to be patriotic by paying their taxes while thanking members who have contributed significantly towards service delivery within the state.

The Speaker commended Governor Soludo’s intensified efforts in infrastructure education health youth empowerment adding that it reveals that Anambra belongs to all irrespective political affiliations calling on ndi-Anambra to join hands together so as take the state higher he reassured speedy approval once it passes first reading during his address earlier before Governor’s presentation
