Supreme Court Did Not Declare Anyone PDP National Secretary

First, I will want to say that if there is anything at all that I should wish the PDP as presently constituted, it is that it should die and never resurrect. The PDP is the biggest failure of an opposition Party in the history of politics, and it is entirely the fault of its current crop of leaders. Nigeria will be better off without this PDP.

Having said that, my only interest in intervening in the ongoing confusion in that Party is to correct the various misinformation being disseminated by some folks, who might either be ignorant or mischievous.

The Supreme Court’s ruling today on the issue of who is the authentic National Secretary of that empty casket of a Party is unambiguous.

The apex court did not declare anyone the rightful Secretary of that Party. Rather, it declined jurisdiction in the matter and nullified the judgements of both the High Court and Appeal Court, on the grounds that they shouldn’t have entertained the case in the first place.

The panel of judges was explicit in explaining that internal Party affairs are not justiciable. Therefore, whatever a political Party decides, as long as it concerns the running of its internal affairs cannot be discussed in a court of law.

The immediate implication of this is that anyone nominated by the rightful organs of that Party as the National Secretary of the Party is the undisputed National Secretary. Also, every other judgement from a lower court barring the Party from proceeding with any of its actions, including; suspending, expulsion or censuring in any form, of any of its officials or members, is null and void.

With this, the PDP National Working Committee can go ahead and file the name of Ude Okoye or whoever the necessary organs of the Party had nominated as National Secretary  at INEC and that will bring to a final end, all controversies surrounding who should be the Chief Scribe of that irresponsible Party.

Also, this latest judgement removes any encumbrances on the PDP to implement the recommendation of the Tom Ikimi led National Disciplinary Committee on any of its members.

May PDP rest in disaster!
