Tourism Minister, GILS Leadership Brainstorm on African Creative Industry Summit

Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, recently received the leadership of Global Initiative For Leadership Success, GILS, organiser of the upcoming African Descent Creative Industry Leadership Summit, Honours and Pageants in her office.

The excited Minister who made known the interest of the ministry to collaborate and give every necessary support for the great initiative to succeed, commended GILS, for coming up with the wonderful project which encompasses the entire ecosystem of the creative industry.

She noted that the current mandate of her Ministry is in line with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to position Nigeria as a strong economy that will no longer be based only on petroleum export as major foreign exchange earner for the country.

According to her, “so many countries of the world particularly the Caribbeans and some in Africa, earn so much foreign exchange from tourism.

She expressed delight with the proposed pageantries of arts exhibition, fashion exhibition/fair and runway, cultural parades, tourism and hospitality expos, and African/black beauty pageant.

There will also be the African Descents Creative Industry Awards and Honours.

 

Hon. Musawa who is also the Chief Host for the programme, also consented to 13th day of May, 2025 to declare the Summit open, as the program is expected to commence on Tuesday the 13th till Sunday the 18th.

The entire countries of the African descents are expected to participate in the programmes.

Also expected to participate are heads of state ministries of Culture and Tourism in Nigeria, agencies and parastatals under Tourism, policy makers, industry stakeholders, and financial organisations both international and local; billed to participate at the summit.

Anticipately, the program will create an atmosphere where investors and financiers will meet fertile opportunities.

On his part, President and Chief Executive Officer GILS, who led the delegation, informed the minister that Embassies and High Commissions of African descent countries in Nigeria are enthusiastic and willing to participate at the programme.
