Ukachukwu Slam Soludo’s ‘Unconcerned Behaviour’ to Traders’ Plight Over Ogbo Ogwu Market Closure

…described the governor’s attitude as “a troubling lack of business empathy” and a sign of disconnect from the struggles of the average Anambra trader.

Onitsha, Anambra State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate for Anambra State, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu has condemned the poor handling of the Ogbo Ogwu drug market in Onitsha, Anambra State by Governor Soludo led Anambra State Government.

Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu stated this while speaking in Onitsha after attending Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Cathedral, Onitsha with his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife and supporters.

Ukachukwu frowned at manner Governor Soludo handled the closure of the Ogbo Ogwu Drug Market by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), expressing disappointment in Governor Charles Soludo’s “indifference and failure to show leadership during a period of deep economic hardship.”

Ukachukwu described the governor’s poor attitude as “a troubling lack of business empathy” and a sign of disconnect from the struggles of the average Anambra trader.

“Governor Soludo has once again shown that he does not understand the heartbeat of commerce in Anambra. His handling of the Ogbo Ogwu market closure reveals a disturbing detachment from the realities our people face daily,” Ukachukwu said.

The Ogbo Ogwu market, one of West Africa’s major pharmaceutical hubs, was sealed by NAFDAC over alleged regulatory concerns. While Ukachukwu acknowledged the importance of public safety and compliance, he insisted that it is the responsibility of a responsive government to mediate, support, and rebuild.

“Soludo should have acted better by engaging NAFDAC, reassuring stakeholders, and providing solutions. Instead, what we see is silence. Our people are stranded, businesses are bleeding, and Anambra is losing vital revenue.”

Ukachukwu emphasized that his administration would prioritize the interests of every trader, entrepreneur, and investor.

“The governor should be the chief marketer of every business in this state. Under my leadership, traders and business owners will never be abandoned. They are the engine of Anambra’s economy and my government will treat them as strategic partners.”

He also urged NAFDAC to reopen dialogue with market leaders especially with the latest allegations of extortion and called on the Soludo administration to immediately intervene to restore fairness, stability, and confidence in the state’s business environment.
