Uzodimma will Neither Succumb to Blackmail Nor Be Deceived with Sycophancy

Constructive criticism is essential to the survival of any democracy and good governance is aided through activism. Leaders who want to succeed do their best to listen and read, not just from those who love and support them, but also from those who do not like them that much. The most important thing is to know where they are making some sense and try to improve in those areas, because the major essence of leadership is to solve problems and bring happiness to the greatest number of people.

His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, is not averse to criticism and he does not object to people disagreeing with him, because, even him, disagree with some people at various times. He is not interested in suppressing opposition, because even himself was an opposition leader, and it was the success of his struggle against a sitting government that made him governor. He understands that ignoring the opposition completely is not best approach in sustaining power for his Party.

There is however, a big difference between constructive criticism and blackmail, opposition and subversion, activism and mercantilism. Governor Uzodimma respects the democratic rights of people to hold differing perspectives to his own concept of governance and he always takes his time to analyse and evaluate the words on the street about his administration. He sieves these words, and acts with the focus on ensuring that the best for the State and its people.

All over the world, even in communist China and restrictive Russia, Iran and Belarus, and all the other countries of the world, with very strict laws against dissent and with histories of oppression against those who attempt to criticise the ruling Party, there are still voices of dissent. So, the reality is that no matter how powerful a government is, it will never succeed in silencing critics. And this is not in the agenda of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, who himself is a democrat, and who understands that the best response to criticism is good governance.

There have been renewed attempts from various quarters to undermine the Shared Prosperity administration in Imo State but the governor is not disturbed about these attempts, because he knows his plans for the State when realized will shut the critics up and sustain the support of ordinary Imolites for his administration.

The governor will neither succumb to the antics of blackmailers nor will he allow himself to be deceived through sycophancy. He is fully at grips with the situation in Imo State, and he knows the areas that require attention. He is deliberate about solving the problems of the State, so, he will not be distracted by those who try to discredit his laudable efforts, especially, in the area of physical infrastructure in the State, and other reforms going on quietly across the State.
