We’ve Dismantled 62 Criminal Camps in Anambra Since I Took Over -Soludo

…Says Security Remains Top Priority

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has revealed that his administration has dismantled over 62 criminal camps across the state as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and restore public confidence.

Governor Soludo made the disclosure on Wednesday while speaking to State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor also addressed the economic impact of the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. According to him, the Southeast geopolitical zone suffered significant economic losses, with businesses and investments being diverted outside the region due to prolonged disruptions.

However, Soludo noted that the recent halt in the sit-at-home order has already begun yielding positive results. He disclosed that more than 45,000 shops reopened at the Onitsha Main Market on Monday, marking a major boost in commercial activities.

In his word: “When I assumed office, so far since I came into office, about 62 criminal camps have been dismantled in Anambra, and we’re not resting for one second. In Anambra, we pride ourselves on being the safest if not, modestly, one of the safest states in the country, and security is key.”

The governor further explained that his administration established a state backed vigilante outfit known as Agunechemba, alongside an anti-cult task force and an anti-touting body. He emphasized that these security structures are working collaboratively and effectively to combat criminal activities in the state.

Governor Soludo reiterated that security remains a top priority for his administration, stressing that sustained peace and stability are essential for economic growth, investor confidence, and the overall development of Anambra State.
