The group of Enugu state youths under the Umbrella of Concerned Youths of Igbo-Etiti/ Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency, has decried what they described as a ‘’Cash and Carry ‘’ verdict which dismissed Hon. Stainless Nwodo.
Recall that the appeal court on the 6th of November ruled against the tribunal and declared the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate Dr. Martins Oke as the winner of the Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency 2023 House of Representative election.
In a statement signed by leaders, Comrade Chijoke Ugwuoke, it was stated that they were baffled why the judiciary has chosen to undermine the will of the people on the altar of cash and carry judgment.
According to Ugwuoke, ‘’On February 25, 2023, due to the abysmal performance of our then-representative Dr. Martins Oke, our people – youths, women, and fathers – went out en masse to elect Hon. Stainless Nwodo as our choice to represent us at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
His overwhelming victory as announced by INEC was celebrated by all and sundry in Igbo-Etiti/ Uzo-uwani Communities. We anticipated a breath of fresh air through his assured quality representation.’’
Ugwuoke who narrated Honorable Stainless Nwodo called on the Speaker of House of Representative Rt. Hon Tajudeen to come to his aid.
‘’Unfortunately, some political classes who accused him of being a pauper, servant and poor driver who is son-of-nobody vowed he was not fit for representation; consequently, they ganged up through their vexatious attitudes and political hirelings throwing tantrums while engaging in menial jobs such as character assassination against him. One wonders when it became a crime to come from humble beginnings? ‘’
‘’Honorable Stainless Nwodo never denied his humble beginning which he worked hard towards coming into limelight; this quality made us vote for him as we could relate with him better than other candidates.’’
‘’We recall how he pitched tent with honorable speaker House Of Representatives when contesting for speakership office because unlike others sharing money at that time he saw Hon TJ Abbas as an effective leader capable enough unite Nigeria based on vision alone which earned him wrongful accusations hobnobbing with APC party members alongside anti-party activities due relationships shared between himself governor Enugu State His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah aimed towards partnerships bringing meaningful development livelihoods people Igbo-Etiti/Uzouwani Constituency.’’
‘’We sincerely hope that Speaker will not sit back watching judicial barbarism stand unchallenged; irrespective excesses quackery these judges still believe good judges exist within Judiciary: President National Judicial Institute (NJI), President Court Appeal (PCA), Justices Supreme Court Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) well-meaning Nigerians must rise defend image judiciary Nigeria gradually becoming object mockery committees nation.’’
The youths Concerned vowed to resist kangaroo judgment stating that every egalitarian society built on justice equity fairness rather than unjustified justice from bunch paid dishonorable judges’.’
‘’We reject unwholesome justice entirely since people have right choose leaders regardless class creed religion tribe or political affiliation.’’
Commending Hon. Stainless Nwodo for the glimpse of hope given to them, the group reaffirmed their unrelented support towards him while urging him to remain strong as time shall.
